What began as a journey to understand their IT costs at a level where decision-making could be improved, has evolved into a TBM model and service catalog of definitions which act as the central point of the AOL operating flywheel. TBM has helped AOL move from IT transparency to IT value – including mapping their public cloud provider data down to actual product utilization, identifying savings which lowered their carbon footprint by 35% in its first year, and driving forward with plans to model transactional costs for defining development performance standards. In this session, AOL’s CIO, James LaPlaine will share the pragmatic approach his team has taken, including sharing the AOL TBM model and the importance of starting simply, always iterating, and believing in the power of TBM.
