In this 3-day virtual course, IT and Finance professionals will learn the core principles and skills of financial management they need to be better stewards of their IT budgets, resources and costs. Students will learn foundational accounting principles such as OpEx vs. CapEx, capitalization of IT expenditures (such as software development), depreciation and amortization of IT assets, how cloud and managed service provider costs are treated, and the impact of IT spending on a company’s financial statements. Students will also learn how to manage their own budgets, what goes into the total cost of ownership (TCO) of their assets and services, return on investment (ROI) approaches, and the various techniques for funding IT and recovering IT costs from their business partners. By attending this course, students will become more well-rounded business leaders. Students will also receive a certificate in Financial and Business Management of IT from the TBM Council.
